Here are some other simple ways to practice gratitude:
Say thank you more often.
Meister Eckhart said, “If the only prayer you ever said was thank you, it would be enough.” Start looking for opportunities to say thank you more often. Instead of simply saying the words in an unconscious manner, pause for a moment before opening your mouth and connect with your sense of appreciation.Share your gratitude.
Create a daily ritual with your partner in which you share what you were most grateful for that day. This is a wonderful way to end your day both to practice gratitude and deepen your connection with your partner.Write a letter.
It’s rare these days to take the time to show our appreciation in writing. That’s what makes receiving a letter or note of thanks so special. Make the time to send thank you notes, especially for gifts or hospitality. Even more special are notes that express your appreciation for who people are, not just for something they have done. A couple of lines of heartfelt sentiment go a long way.Catch yourself complaining.
It’s easy to be grateful when things are going well. It’s more of a challenge when you don’t really feel like it. Catch yourself complaining. It’s in those moments that you have likely disconnected from your gratitude. Ask yourself, “In this moment, in spite of this challenge, what are I grateful for?”Laurel Vespi is a certified life coach, award winning author and the real fabulous woman behind stone circle coaching.
